It's mostly applicable to rock. But I've used the drums and bass guitars in rap and hip hop, and I've used the distorted electric guitars in orchestral tracks (trailer music, for example).

Easy enough. Just plop it into your DAW as a VST.

I've been thinking of getting it but with the 350$ price tag, it's a little (VERY) on the expensive side.

Truly. If you're looking for just gritty, distorted, electric guitars, and you have Kontakt, I'd personally recommend Shreddage, by Impact Sound Works. It's really cheap ($50), but, in my opinion, it sounds meatier and more realistic than Ministry of Rock. There's also an upgrade coming out soon, which will cost $30 or something, and it will add true legato and Bb tuning -- so again, if you're just looking for distorted electric guitars, I'd recommend Shreddage. (The only caveat is that you need to have Kontakt: that's how they keep the cost down, by not developing their own engine.)

Do you guys recommend it? Was te first one good?

I don't have MoR2, so I can't personally recommend it. The first one wasn't bad: the acoustic guitar strums were pretty good, the drums weren't bad. From what I can tell from the demos, Ministry of Rock 2's drums are very nice, the bass guitars are pretty good, but the electric guitars still sound bad.
