In celebration of their 20th anniversary, IK Multimedia is giving away T-RackS Classic Compressor, a set of AmpliTube Custom Shop amps and cabinets, The Grid instrument collection for SampleTank 3 and 20 free Custom Shop gear credits. The offer expires on March 31st.
For me personally, the T-RackS Classic Compressor ($49.99 regular price) is the most exciting freebie of the bunch, as it expands on the already decent Classic Equalizer plugin and the metering tools included in the free edition of T-RackS Custom Shop. Now, with a compressor/equalizer combo and a handy suite of metering tools, this is becoming a very useful freebie package for mixing and even some basic post-production purposes. If you’re using the free edition of AmpliTube Custom Shop to process your guitar recordings, you can now expand your virtual gear arsenal with the American Tube Vintage amplifier, 4×10 Open Vintage cabinet and the Harmonator guitar pedal. I haven’t tested these three AmpliTube expansions yet, but I’m pretty sure that most users will appreciate the additional guitar processing gear that can be used free of charge.
SampleTank Custom Shop users can now add The Grid ($39.99 regular price) to their sound library for free. The Grid is a collection of electronic drum hits and construction kits featuring 30 one shot drum samples, 20 pre-made drum kits and 50 MIDI grooves, adding up to 278 MB of audio material when extracted.
Last but not least, all registered users will get 20 free gear credits for use in the IK Multimedia Custom Shop. You can use the credits to purchase more sounds for SampleTank, or to expand your T-RackS/AmpliTube gear collection.
The offer expires on March 31st, meaning that you will need to claim your personal serial numbers for the freebie products before this date in order to add them to your IK Multimedia user account. Unfortunately, the How It Works section on the giveaway page (which is supposed to describe how to claim the free products) is slightly confusing. According to the info provided there, you should log in to your user account (or create one if you don’t have it already), launch the Custom Shop and then click on “Restore my gear” or “Restore my sounds” in order to get the freebies. The confusing thing is that the free products were already available in my user account when I logged in today, so I’m not sure if launching the Custom Shop and restoring the gear/sounds is a necessary step. I’ll investigate this issue and update the article later today.
UPDATE: OK, so after launching Custom Shop and clicking on “Restore my gear” and “Restore my sounds”, you will see the freebies among your available gear/sounds. I’m still not sure whether this step is necessary or not (as opposed to just logging in to your IK Multimedia account in your browser), but it doesn’t hurt to do it just to make sure. One weird thing I’ve noticed is that the download link for The Grid is set to expire in 180 days in my account. I have no idea why it would expire if it’s already added to the account. Oh, and I’ve also received 10 additional gear credits for free when I launched the Custom Shop application, but I have no idea why. Anyway, perhaps you’ll get those as well, adding up to 30 free gear credits in total. :)
